Long-term social care<\/h2>

Long-term social care <\/strong>\u2013 is continuous professional assistance provided to a person, including support for vital functions and\/or the development of independence.<\/p>\n

Service recipients <\/strong>\u2013 elderly persons and adults with disabilities.<\/p>\n

Duration <\/strong>\u2013 for adults with disabilities and elderly persons, services are provided for more than 6 months per year or for an indefinite period. <\/p>\n

Services provided in a social care home:<\/strong>
accommodation; development of communication, cooperation and decision-making skills; development and\/or maintenance and\/or restoration of daily living skills; organisation and\/or provision of daytime activities at the institution (sewing, knitting, weaving, arts and crafts, ceramics, etc.); organisation of meals; assistance with eating; feeding; assistance with dressing, washing and other forms of personal support; organisation of personal hygiene services; organisation or provision of healthcare services (nursing); organisation of leisure activities; and other services required according to the person's level of independence.<\/p>\n

Specific features of service provision in residential long-term care institutions:<\/strong> in specialised nursing and social care homes, social care is provided only to persons with severe disabilities who have been assessed as requiring level I or level II compensation for the costs of individual assistance (until 31 December 2023 \u2013 a special need for permanent nursing care).
All services are organised and\/or provided to persons within the same institution \u2013 a social care home or a residential long-term care institution.<\/p>\n<\/div><\/div><\/div><\/div>\n\n

Short-term social care<\/h2>

Short-term social care <\/strong>\u2013 is continuous professional assistance provided to a person on all days of the week or on a round-the-clock basis, including support for vital functions and\/or the development of independence.<\/p>\n

Service recipients <\/strong>\u2013 elderly persons and adults with disabilities.<\/p>\n

Duration <\/strong>\u2013 for adults with disabilities and elderly persons, services are provided for more than 10 hours per day for up to 6 months per calendar year, or for up to 5 days per week for an indefinite period at the institution. <\/p>\n

Services provided in a social care home:<\/strong>
accommodation; development of communication, cooperation and decision-making skills; development and\/or maintenance and\/or restoration of daily living skills; organisation and\/or provision of daytime activities at the institution; psychological and psychotherapeutic assistance or the organisation thereof; organisation of meals; assistance with eating; feeding; assistance with dressing, washing and other forms of personal support; organisation and provision of personal hygiene services; organisation and\/or provision of healthcare services; organisation of leisure activities; and other services required according to the person's level of independence.<\/p>\n
